Unbroken Hearts

An unbroken heart is what I long for

Unbroken family chains

You were my sister once upon a time

But time erased your love for me

And we are sisters no more

They say that time mends a broken heart

But mine is shattered

Like the web of the spider

Into a million pieces and strings

Tangled it seems

I can think of nothing that I had done

That called for an unbroken chain

Of love and kindness and patience

But that is who you are

The legacy that you have left behind

Is coldness and icy hate

Do you feel better now?

“I can still hear you saying, you would never break the chain”

But the chain is broken

And shattered

And tangled

Oh please….

Unbreak my heart.

I am a wife, mother, RN, make-up artist, and musician, who also happens to have a mood disorder. Fortunately, I will not let the latter define me. I am also a survivor of suicide loss. This website is dedicated to my brother, Jefferson Joseph Blanton-Harris ("Joey"). This site is to share thoughts about beauty, fashion, and most of all, mental health.
